Carlo Mollino, Side Chair from Casa Del Sol, Chestnut, Brass, Italy, 1953

An important side chair designed by Carlo Mollino (1905-1973) for Casa Del Sol, a Ski Resort in Cervinia, Italy, near the Swiss border. Casa Del Sol was architected by Mollino, constructed in 1948, and in 1953 Mollino was tasked to design furnishings for the resort.

Executed in chestnut with brass bolts, by Ettore Canali, Brescia, Italy.

The furnishing followed the restrained facade of the modernist building, which led Mollino to focus on straight engineering matters. Mollino blends the functionalist ethos of the consignment with his own iconic style.

The chair presents with superb original patina.

Sold with a certificate of authenticity from The Museo Casa Mollino.
